Presence In Play is a home for clowning, improvisation, and the healing arts. It's a body of work that helps people drop out of their heads and back into a more beautiful state of being.
What this is
Most of us live a few inches behind our own eyes, managing and performing and bracing for the next thing. Presence In Play is a set of practices for coming back: to the body, the breath, the room, the people around us.
The lightest part of us could be called our "clown," but you won't find red noses or birthday parties here. Clowning is simply the humor that doesn't come from the mind. It draws instead from the body, the spirit, the ensemble, the moment. It's less a costume than a state of being, and it's available to anyone curious and brave enough to the unknown .

Who’s behind it
Presence In Play is led by Jet Eveleth, a veteran of The Second City, a clown from the Vegas show Absinthe, a doctor of integrative medicine, and a professor of Comedy Studies at Columbia College. Her students describe her classes in language usually reserved for surgery and religion. She has spent two decades learning how laughter actually heals, and the rest of her life refusing to take that lightly.
